Bio
Ned is a management consultant
who provides tools, techniques and guidance to improve productivity in
both large corporate and entrepreneurial organizations. His focus is on
the human side of organizations, with emphasis on the formal and informal
systems through which objectives are turned into results. Ned also brings
a lifelong interest in individual capability and development; leading
to work in talent identification and selection.
He has worked with leading
companies around the San Francisco Bay Area, including eBay, cNet, Applied
Materials, Quantum, Wind River Systems, Oracle, Citibank and others. Interventions
with these companies range from business reorganization to competency
modeling and attendant selection and developmental programs to performance
management tools and processes. Ned also has developed performance focused
and Human Resources programs for smaller firms.
Prior to starting his consulting
practice in 1994, Ned worked for over ten years in Fortune 100 Human Resource
settings, with exposure to specialty areas such as Compensation, Human
Resource Information Systems, Workforce Planning, Employee Relations and
Policy. He also served in a generalist role as Director of Human Resources
for two smaller businesses.
Ned holds a lifetime accreditation
as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Human Resources
Certification Institute, an affiliate of the nation's largest Human Resources
organization, the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). Ned is
an active member of the Northern California Human Resources Association
(NCHRA), SHRM's largest affiliate, and of SHRM.
He has served on program committees
since 1994, acted as the Chairman of its 1997 Annual Conference, HR as
the Competitive Edge, and co-chaired the speaker host committee of last
year’s SHRM national conference in San Francisco. Ned has also been
a facilitator for the HRCI certification program, and developed the curricular
framework for all continuing education credits at NCHRA.
He has a Master's degree in
Curriculum and Instruction and an Honors Bachelor’s degree in Psychology
from the University of Adelaide in South Australia.
